Inflammation Models
Mouse Model of Inflammatory Factors
Inflammation is a common yet important pathological process. Any factor that may cause tissue damage can lead to inflammation.Abnormal inflammation-related response may result in chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases and even cancer. The regulation of inflammation-related genes is an important topic in the study of the development of inflammation.
The interleukin family is a group of cytokines that play a central role in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses. Researchers have always been intrigued by the interleukin family's role in different inflammations and tumors, its expression and functions at different stages of diseases, as well as its regulatory mechanism on immune responses.
Transgenic technology can be used for the in vivo monitoring of inflammatory factor during the inflammatory process by using the promoter of the inflammatory factor gene to drive the expression of a reporter gene. For example, a luciferase gene can be introduced into human interleukin 1b promoter to establish an Il1b-luc transgenic mouse.
Shanghai Model Organisms knocks-in the luciferase and GFP dual-reporter genes into the interleukin gene transcription initiation site to build a series of mouse models with interleukin gene promoter-driven reporter genes expression. The resulting homozygous mouse model does not express the specific interleukin gene, while the endogenous promoter drives reporter gene expression. Expression levels of the reporter genes reflect the degree of activation of specific inflammatory factors, allowing researchers to track inflammatory factors in real time and visualize the expression patterns of inflammatory factors. These mouse models are of great significance towards the classification and tracing of immune cells, research on immune processes and disease mechanisms, study of drug targets, drug development, and more.

Induced Mouse Model of Inflammation
Shanghai Model Organisms also provides a variety of non-GEM mouse models of inflammation including exarteritis, chemotherapy-induced intestinal inflammation and inflammatory bowel disease. These models can be applied in researches on the mechanism of inflammation, evaluation of drug efficacy, and others.
