Models

Knockouts

Knockout mouse model is a laboratory mouse in which researchers have inactivated, or "knocked out," an existing gene by deleting portions of the gene’s DNA sequence, or by replacing the gene with an altered DNA sequence. Knockout mice exhibit modifications in phenotype (observable traits) and thereby provide important clues about the function of individual genes. Mice and humans share many genes in common. Hence, information from knockout mouse models can shed light on the biological roles of specific genes as well as on the involvement of those genes in human disease.

Disease Connection:postpartum depression
mouse
Strain Name:C57BL/6JSmo-Gabreem1Smoc
Strain State:Embryo cryopreservation | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190576
Research Application:This gene encodes the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor which is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system.

Strain Name:C57BL/6Smoc-Gabrg1em1Smoc
Strain State:Developing | Cat. NO.:TBD
mouse
Strain Name:C57BL/6JSmo-Gabrg2em1Smoc
Strain State:Embryo cryopreservation | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190577
Research Application:This gene encodes a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor. GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammlian brain, where it acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Mutations in this gene have been associated with epilepsy and febrile seizures.

Strain State:Embryo cryopreservation | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190578
Research Application:This gene encodes a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor. GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain where it acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels.

Strain State:Repository Live | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190579
Research Application:This gene encodes the theta subunit of the GABA A receptor,The GABA A receptor is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system.

Strain Name:C57BL/6JSmo-Gabrr1em1Smoc
Strain State:Embryo cryopreservation | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190580
Research Application:GABRR1 is a member of the rho subunit family.
mouse
Strain Name:C57BL/6JSmo-Gabrr2em1Smoc
Strain State:Embryo cryopreservation | Cat. NO.:NM-KO-190581
Research Application:The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the rho subunit family and is a component of the GABA type A receptor complex. This gene exists on chromosome 6q next to the gene encoding the rho 1 subunit of the GABA type A receptor, in a region thought to be associated with susceptibility for psychiatric disorders and epilepsy. Polymorphisms in this gene may also be associated with alcohol dependence, and general cognitive ability.
